So this is interesting .
Cardinals were not going to be able to sign Montgomery or Hicks
in the off-season . Wouldn’t be able to match the qualifying offers
Hicks declined them hours b4 being traded as a matter of fact .
So instead of losing them for nothing . These 4 guys are now in our
prospect list in red . Look how much that changed what prospects
we have to either watch develop or trade for more MLB proven pitching
during the winter/off-season
Completely transformed our depth . Those 4 guys we got slotted
into our top prospects all for 2 guys we would of gotten a couple
more useless starts for this year in Montgomery and 20 more innings
pitched from Hicks in a ,once again , meaningless season .
Still have Flaherty who I know won’t sign with us . He hates Missouri
and is a big Liberal who’s spoken out against St Louis .
So we have 6 or so more hours to get a package done for
him and Dejong ,possibly even Carlson if want to land a MLB proven
solid #2 starter from some team
Thought I’d hate this re-tooling of Cardinals as they’ve not been sellers
in a long time . I’m glad they are doing it .
Cardinals have a few good years left with their cornerstone players
Goldschmidt and Arenado . They are surrounded by elite young
talent in Jordan Walker , Mason Winn , Nolan Gorman , Brendan Donovan,
Lars Nootbaar ,and even Herrera .
2025 and 2026 will be incredibly interesting with a couple good trades
a couple good Free Agent signings ,almost all focused on pitching .
Cardinals will make it to the World Series in one of 3 years
2025,2026,2027 .
Those names I listed above are not homer names , as a die hard
fan . These are the most interesting core of new MLB players
the Cardinals have ever fielded at once, and it’s not even close
