I think you're bang on Genie. The VAR has become a crutch for referees. When the wording states " a foul or infraction in the build up ". How far back are we rolling the tapes ?

And yet the NFL managed to survive without it for eons. I'm tired of a 3 hour game lasting 4 hours now. To err is human ...... I'm okay with that

Ronaldo @ 39 is still a freak of nature. He always maintained a healthy diet and lifestyle , so I may be too quick to write him off. I watched the Friendly against Ireland and he looked as though he was 29. 2 Great goals and plenty of pace. He puts in the time , so give him all the credit he deserves. Messi will always be the greatest all around player I ever saw. Pele and Johan Cruff deserve mention , but Ronaldo is the greatest athlete to ever play the game imo

I haven't witnessed Pele's era but I watched numerous game highlights on YouTube and damn, How I wish I could turn back time to see him play live one more time.

I'm fine with VAR, it might lower the goal total but it adds an element of suspense also. The automatic VAR they roll out at times is of course the better version of it since it's not opinion based. We've obviously seen some bad calls by the VAR officials. The flopping in soccer is still by far the biggest cancer to the game. Spending a few minutes while a goal is being reviews is not nearly as destructive to the game as a goalie falling to his knees and taking a grass nap after a ball gently rolls to him. Something that this Euro tourney has done that should absolutely be enforced in all major leagues is that only the team Captain can approach the ref to argue their case rather than the whole damn team come after him otherwise a yellow card can be handed out. Ref is trying to hear from the other officials or VAR and you have a pack of people crying in who knows how many languages, need to do away with that.

Thought for sure the ref would blow the whistle after the Georgia corner was stopped. Guess the ref had Turkey -1 today and let them run down the field for the extra score.
