ESPN has ~3,800 employees in US.
Wow. Had no idea it was that many direct employees. I just assumed most were contractors (i.e. camermen, makeup, techs, etc...).

Many of the roles these talking heads perform may be replaced by A.I. in the upcoming years. Full play by play of the slower sports { football, soccer, golf } and color coments could easily be programed. Even various versions: "rap" play by play, "off color" color commentary for example. The viewer could then pick and choose from a list according to their taste.

How do you cut Jeff Van Gundy but keep Mark Jackson?
Companies had to by sure the demographics of these actions are within legal bounds. Who had tenure or the better work review? I'm willing to bet Van Gundy's reviews were superior. However we don't know ESPN's policy regarding layoffs.
If everything doesn't add up it can open the door to lawsuits involving age or race discrimination.
Suzy Kolber's exit is surprising to me. Are the facts she is a mature female a factor in her departure?
