Not really - think of officials in curling more like in golf than anything.

They make rulings on things - but don’t call fouls.

It’s a game that like golf largely relies on players to acknowledge their own violations rather than an official to spot and call it.

Thats why the big blow up - calling someone for not admitting their mistakes is in essence calling them a cheat.
