2.5 million for signed Jordan rookie card

I don’t know what’s stupider here - spending 2.5 million on a modern card - signed recently by Jordan knowing he did NINE of them and SIX graded higher (and of course he likely signed many others during his playing days before these things were valuable) or sending off 9 valuable cards to be destroyed with a signature.

Let’s say there are 1000 signed Jordan rookies in existence a number that seems reasonable. And let’s say this one is even in the top 10 examples (seems unlikely but possible) - 2.5 mill seems a tad excessive. It’s not like it’s rare - like 1 of 1 - or that it has any real connection to history.

Think about what that 2.5 million gets you - vs say a championship ring from a star player on a legendary team, a bat or ball from Babe Ruth or jersey from just about any legend that can be authenticated to a historic season/event. It’s Jordan and the card is legendary- but you’re telling me you show up at his door with 10 of these things and 10 million - he’s slamming the door in your face ? No way in hell - he’s grabbing a blue sharpie and doubling the population in a heartbeat.
