So... you have a Boston type accent KR.... Where they say "warsh" instead of wash or is it more of a Boston Southie type accent?
I've lived in Texas almost my entire adult life but I grew up in Iowa so I have no accent.
People who grew up in Iowa (and eastern Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana, etc speak what is called the "Midland Dialect" and is the most neutral dialects in English.
Lots of broadcasters are from this part of the country: Walter Cronkite, Johnny Carson, Tom Brokaw, Ronald Reagan, etc. They were chosen in part due to their neutral way of speaking.
One thing I noticed about some Midwesterners though is that they drop the "g" in words ending with "ing".
"We're workin' to do some runnin' around and thinkin' about doin' some drinkin' afterward."
I grew up in the Midwest too and used to do this until I moved to California and noticed they pronounce the full "ing" sound so I made a concerted effort to post the "g" when I spoke.
