Can someone explain why people thought the Jets were gonna be good?

Rodgers hall Wilson. Then good defense. Hasn't worked out saleh always looked pissed and the team made undisciplined mistakes he also had bad play calling
Wilson seems like a lot of promise but could be more a flash in the pan than people realize. He's not a top 10 guy or anything like that

Hall is kinda meh

And Rodgers is basically just average at this point

Defense is all they have, and it's very good but not the best in the league or anything like that

Jets offense with a ton of virtually identical stats through the first 5 games of this year and the first 5 games of last year.

QB stats are wildly the same, including %, rating, yards per attempt, etc.

Points, record, the same.

Sacks and yards loss for sack nearly identical 13 vs 14 sack for a loss of 98 vs 99 yards.

Rogers has made no difference over Wilson from last year.

One difference I did notice was in the points per possession. Jets have less possessions this year through 5 games than last year, so the points per possession is higher.

Crazy how the numbers come out on a lot of these stats.
Maybe the Jets should trade for Zach Wilson

The real problem isn't one of talent.

The real problem is one of the offensive lines being, not by way of talent, but by way of miscommunication and missed blocks, one of the worst run blocking lines in the NFL.

The bad run game is a direct result of the offensive line miscues.

The offensive line is the problem. It has 3 new starters this year and they have gotten worse rather than better.

The Jets face a 14.2% stacked box rate, with is like 28 in the NFL.

So you can beg one of two questions that still give you the same result of the stacked box rate.

Defenses either know they don't need to stack the box against the shitty offensive line, or they just respect the pass so much that they don't stack.

You can choose, lol.

But know the rushing efficiency is bad, and a team that can't rush, can't do much else as the season drags on.

I could continue, but you get the point.

Don't even get me started on the Jets run blocking tight end game.

Ruckert and Bates were there to be blocking tight ends, and they suck very bad at it.

The line and tight ends are a liability here, not an asset to the Jets overall picture.

If they keep it up, poor Rogers will be throwing the ball 60 times a game by mid season. That's not good.

Put it all together, and I cold add more, what we see is the Jets offense operating with absolutely zero play action threat.

That little fact is a gift to any defense and an big issue with the overall offensive capabilities, a big issue.

Another thing about Breece Hall, last year he averaged 4.46 yard per attempt.

This year he averages 3.03 yard per attempt.

Overall, last year, the Jets had nearly twice the number of stacked boxes against them than this year.

Those Hall stats don't really reflect that. So maybe he's not as good as last year, overall, it appears.

Zach Wilson is done. he will be a back up in this league at best moving forward. IMO,, If you are referring to Garrett he is a solid wide out. But the problems addressed by KVB and you are holding him back.

Saleh was a tremendous defensive coordinator for the Niners but an awful head coach. The Jets still have a very good defense but a subpar offense. Tough to win when you can't score but they're still in the AFC playoff picture because of their defense. Maybe under Jeff Ulbrich they will unlock their offense which has some talent but underperforming players on it such as Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall.

I think Rodgers is the biggest culprit as far as being underperforming. He does not look motivated. I am hopeful the coaching change will light a fire with him. AS for Saleh he stayed with Z. Wilson way too long. He helped ruin last year. It was time for him to go. IMO.
