I was thinking about putting some of my recent winnings into hiring a personal trainer for at least a month or six weeks to get back into the habit.

Thoughts? @JDS @KVB and others who are regular gym folks. Good idea??

I used to hit the gym a lot in my 20s and early 30s but have gotten out of the habit. I even have a membership at the best gym in town.

Just hard to get self-motivated. Used to go with a friend from high school back in the day and seemed to never skip out.

Had a real good friend from high school too that was a personal trainer and only charged me $15 per session back in my 20s for a couple of years that was a great deal obviously.

Yeah it's a mental battle just to arrive at the gym. You have to have some kind of motivation behind why you want to look & feel better. So ask your self WHY am I doing this ? I know you've been winning a lot lately and that makes you wanna splurge on big meals at times I'm sure. I know I did when I went on that +126K run last year. Definitely gained some weight along the way. Music & energy drinks help me when I get to the gym if you do finally make it back there. That's all I really got for now BJ good luck making it back man.

👍🍺

Start off with 12oz. curls, then 16oz.

You could go 24, 32, 40oz. - but you don’t want to pull anything. Take your time…..

Sometimes for me in order to make it to the gym. I'll make a alcoholic beverage & bring it with me to the gym for motivation lol. Cardio is hard to do while drinking because you are essentially dehydrating yourself during the workout, but I can lift weights pretty steady when I drink.

Motivation can be tough.

One is baby steps.

Another is to just block off the time each day or week and make it a habit.

Once you get started, you start to feel the benefits and it’s easier to keep going.

Usually when getting started back I make it tough and do cardio like every day of the week. I force myself into some of the harder to motivate for workouts.

Eventually the benefits kick in and you’re glad you went. Seems like almost every day I was fighting going to the gym, but every day I went I was glad I did.

Haven’t been in a while though, shoulder issue.
