Possibly the power company as power lines going down are the likely cause.

It's the crazy winds and low humidity for this time of year that is the real issue. Even if they had all the water in the world, it would not have helped much.

I saw some estimates saying the winds were causing the fires to burn 5 football fields per minute.

That's fukkin nuts.

Only the ocean itself could stop the coastal fire.

A new evacuation order came about 6pm on Wednesday local time as a fast-moving fire swept through the Hills, impacting at least 10 acres already near Runyon Canyon.

Bottom line is this, I am leaving for the promise land out of LAX on Sunday. I am in SB now, am I going to be able to drive down there on Saturday? Should I fly out of SB instead of driving? Is my flight going to get cancelled? Are flights being grounded?

Looks like the Ventura Freeway goes north of the fire and the 405 is clear down to LAX.

At no time have these fires threatened traffic on the Ventura/405 freeways to LAX from The 805 to LAX.

LAX has been having flights fly out during this whole fire situation.

I'll give you updates in the next couple days.
