All kinds of crazy shit can go down when bettin "the old way"
I got a couple of varrying lines from a couple guys "back in the day."
I went big for the middle. But the middle failed.
No problem, right? Lose a little vig.
Come "settle up" day, I pay guy1 his end.
Then I see guy2 and he says "that was a bad line. I tried calling you back.
I don't know if he did or didn't but I ended up with a big loss and a no-bet.
As Tony Soprano would say "ahh, what are ya gonna do."

New way Tony @ 5 dimes would've just voided your play and told you to f off. At least your guy back then tried to call you.

Bottom line, I think the OP likely didn't understand his local's rules/policies (maybe just started with him) or was just playing dumb and trying to work his local. Either way, OP was incorrect.

My wife's uncle is still making book. I think the guy is like 80+. I would never use him but he still has quite a few clients. They too are probably over 80.

Young people just don't go that route with everything that is available online.
