Interesting - didn’t realize the Sunshine was going out of Miami - thought it was Norfolk only during summer.
Very familiar with the ship - it used to sail from Charleston before the city got too uppity and decided value cruises weren’t bringing in the types they wanted to their waterfront district. Carnival moved it up to Norfolk this year.
Exactly the kind of stuff I’d expect when you took a boat full of folks from Norfolk out on a 30 year old Carnival ship. Ship is old and shows it - none of the perks you see on more modern cruise ships.
I think the last cruise I was on was actually the Sunshine - probably was that one that made me swear off cruises after 4 days of hell. Thought hey, how bad can it be - 4 days in a suite aboard an older ship…we will probably just lounge around and hang out in the cabin - doing meals at the specialty restaurants and skipping buffet completely. Turns out even that plan does no good when the staff is just burned out from dealing with the passengers it draws. Seriously - every member of the crew HATED being on there and it showed. Been on enough cruises to know to talk to crew and kind of learn how to not be an annoyance to them.
