ATL vs NYM Double Header 5/1/23 - Mets starting a Reliever? 1:10 ET start

These teams have been off since Friday due to weather. They play a double header today so you can't say your starters need rest. So, please someone explain to me why the Mets are starting Reyes (NYM) and pitching a reliever game?

The odds are clearly favoring ATL -215/NYM +190. Are they just going to chalk up the loss vs Strider (ATL).
This is really strange.

The only other idea I can come up with is that they are trying to get their rotation set for upcoming matchups.

Morton (ATL) vs Megill (NYM).
Morton seems to be improving game by game. Megill doing worse with each start.

I'm not privy to all the info, but I came in to suggest this, but you already said it. They might be making an adjustment to get back on "schedule" after the days off.

Yeah, I think Max and Verlander coming off the IL and Suspension and the demotion of Peterson likely put their rotation into a bit of a ruckus. so the pen game is the reset

I'm kinda liking the the unders on both these ATL/NYM game. Only hesitation is that the wind is blowing out at 17 mph.

Just yesterday the average Total for the games was 11 runs with the average team score being 5.5 runs.

Of the 14 games played there was one game where less than 7 runs were scored, when LAA beat MIL 3-0, and there were 4 games with 16 or more runs scored.

And I can't hit a Slugger of the Day HR prop to save my life....
