Nothing really, 5k doesn't get you anything that is going to go up, sure they are good entry level watches but you are pretty much stuck with that price range. You will always be able to sell it and depends the model get close to what you pay for. Vacheron's Pateks and AP is where the demand is at. Not in that price range though.
Rolex has the strongest resale value of any watch regardless what you think of them, the big 3 are Rolex, Patek and AP.

There are only two types of watches, Rolex and everything else.

Some watches shine in the sun while Rolex IS the sun.

This is a joke right? Yes , Rolex is very popular but anyone that knows anything about watdhes and the market knows where the real money is at. I own one Rolex but never wear it. There is an old saying out there. “Anyone can own a Rolex” Patek is the cash cow along with Vacheron and AP. I don’t even mention other higher end ones. The high high end ones like Richard Mile and others are different type or consumers. Everything depends the model of the watch.

RM and Vacheron are trash. Over priced garbage that will never hold value, as I said earlier, regardless of what your personal opinion of Rolex is the fact remains that they are the most desired watches and producing the biggest second hand gains.

You ever hear a rapper brag about his Vacheron? Lol

I have been in the market for 20 years.

Stainless steel utility Rolex are impossible to buy new? Why? Because they are so desirable that jewelers make you buy 3 full golds before giving you one as a peace offering.

No one can compete with Rolex.

Those same SS sport watches sell for 3X on open market

....as I said, if you are "dealing" in watches you stick to Rolex, stay away from models like airking and oyster perpetual, woman's models are always dogs.

Milgauss is even money.

Anything stainless besides the models I mentioned are winners.

full gold stick to sport utility and Day Date 40.

never buy the 36 mm they are dogs

Aren't guys paranoid walking the streets with 10k, 50k, or even 100k or more on their wrists?
I wear my Blue Overseas daily 50k. I wear it all over the SEZ zones deep in Cambodia and Myanmar, sometimes my Patek in Vietnam, my others are in my safety deposit box. I keep 4 watches at home the rest in the box. But my daily wearer all over Vietnam, no issues whatsoever. Of course I could get my hand chopped off , just like anywhere else.
