Grammys have never been about rock - like most award shows created by industry to celebrate the industry.
Grammys/CMA they are all the same - dedicated to creating a public awareness of what the industry owns and can profit from.
There’s a good write up out there from a Grammy nominated Americana artist I’ll try to find and post - she basically breaks down what a joke the awards are. Anyone nominated who wants to attend must now pay around $2500 PER PERSON to attend - that doesn’t include the cost of travel, hotel the night before or any personal expenses (I/E dress/tux for the event). Also keep in mind the vast majority of the awards are not presented at the “public” event they show on TV - it’s at a large hotel auditorium the afternoon before the big show - something like 200 awards total - do the math even with a lot of overlap - that’s a lot of people being invited and for some - it’s still a pretty big honor to be nominated for a trophy a non-musician would recognize on your mantle. That honor simply fades quickly when you realize it would cost 10-15k to fly in and attend and they are on the hook for 100% of those cost personally.
The man's got a job to do. If she plans to be with him for any period of time, she'll understand. He's got a few good years to win more rings. He has to stay with the team, not waltz around wearing a tux.
This was the first Grammys I’ve watched in years, and the whole thing was a big ‘woke’ joke. ‘Hosted by Trevor Noah’ - that’s all you needed to know…..
