Mark Lanegan just had that voice that oozed whisky and cigarettes - probably the best description of his singing.

Screaming Trees came out in the “grunge” era - but never really did anything aside from this. Actually had a few good records after - but nothing commercially successful.

Queens of the Stone Age showed he could sell records - died way too young a few years back.

In my opinion, this whole scene has already lost the best talents. He, Layne Staley and Chris Cornell, who also had an amazing voice. Even vocalists from other genres praise him. As for Layne, you could feel the pain in his vocal lines.

Yea - I knew he was close with Cobain and Anthony Bordaine - and had been invited to Kurt’s house the day of the suicide - but never realized he was close to Layne too.

Also never realized he wrote not 1 but 2 memoirs - so those are on order now.

Just missed posting for the 30th anniversary of his tragic passing.

Just amazing talent - and an amazing story about both he and his brother.

When it happened- was originally reported Clapton was onboard - turned out to be SRV and members of Clapton’s band. RIP legend.
