Rest in Peace, Breslin
2010 - 2025
She went out in glory. A cheeseburger and McNuggets in her tummy. More sodium than the dead sea.
She licked clean a whole cup of peanut butter ice cream when we got to the vet.
Fed her a single hershey's "goodbye" kiss so she could know what it tasted like.
When they gave her the sedative, she was in the process of licking spray-canned cheese from a cutting board. Her limbs got heavy, and we helped her lie down on her side.
Then they gave her the final syringe, and her heart stopped soon after.
She died with the taste of highly processed spray-can cheese on her lips. I can think of no finer way to go.
We brought her home and buried her in the side pasture. My husband dug a great hole yesterday, along the path I take when I go berry picking.
It had been raining all morning, but by the time we got home, the sun was beginning to peek out.
We'll never forget you, my friend.
