I took a break from this thread because I wanted to concentrate on football. Now that football is winding down I thought I would take a look at hockey again.

I started a thread yesterday asking about some lines that seemed off. It turns out they were off because the starting goalie was sitting and the replacement was playing.

I picked 2 dogs over 200+ and both won. I also like to look at shots on goal after the 1st period to see if one team is dominating another like the Rangers did the other night, and then bet accordingly.

One line that pokes out at me today is the Red Wings +171. They're playing the Stars. The Wings are 13-8-3 and have their starting goalie in the net. Dallas is 15-7-3 so they seem like similar teams. Dallas is at home but I don't believe they should be favored by this much.

I'll address this closer to game time.

There may be other lines that seem off as well. If I find any more today, I'll post here.

Another line that looks a little off is the Kings -164. Both teams have starting goalies in and both teams have similar records. Why are the Kings such favorites on the road?

Wings have 12 shots on goal to 6 for the Stars. Not a huge difference like the 17 to 6 (or so) we saw with the Rangers a few nights ago but it tells me that the Wings are putting forth a good effort and the Stars may be a bit lackluster.

The score is 1-1 after 1 period. With the effort put forth from the Wings I'm going with the following:

A little of both.

These plays are experimental before I figure out if they are a trend or not.

Bruins/Knights under 6

Vegas is 1-11-2 o/u at home this season. I see that the line for home games has gone from 6 1/2 to 6 throughout the season with the last 3 home games being set at 6.

I found another one I can't quite figure out that starts shortly.

Kraken are 8-2-1 on the road but are +141. Their starting goalie is Jones who is 12-5 but had a tough outing last game and I'm thinking that's why they are the underdog here.

Florida is 7-2-2 at hom but one of the goalies for Florida is Knight who has a 7-4 record who is out with an illness so his replacement is Bobrovsky who has a 6-7 record.

I'm going to wait until after the 1st period to see how this one shapes up.

I should have gone with my instinct on the Kraken but I didn't. I also didn't take the Kings previously either. I'll just have to go with my gut feeling.

the first one that sticks out to me, and this is just a basic overview, is NJ is at -105 who are 11-1 on the road facing the NYR who are 5-6-3 at home. No backup goalies in play as of this hour. I just think this is a good price for a team that has only lost once on the road.
