If this is going to push through, can they still use the old name "Seattle SuperSonics"?

Yes.

When they left the city to become the OKC Thunder, Seattle reached a settlemenet deal with them.

In that deal, the city of Seattle was able to retain the rights to the Supersonic name, all th e logos and trademarks, as well as the green and gold team colors.

It's considered a settlement in which Seattle retains the team history of the Supersonics, and it doesn't go to Oklahoma with the owners.

So yeah, if a new team comes to Seattle, they will be the Supersonics.

Oh nice! But this part here also means they will also get to continue the team's records and not start at 0?

As I understand it, the City of Seattle gets to keep all the history.

I think that includes the past records.

So I think it was OKC Thunder that started from scratch and didn't carry the history with them.

So I think even the records were left in Seattle.

The only things OKC took were things like trophies and Champ banners and items of history.

It's my understanding that they will give those back to Seattle if a new team is formed.
