What pisses me off though is it sounds like MLB had to negotiate with him to retire. WTH?

I don't understand how the Umpires Union has so much power that someone who is so bad at their job can't be fired. MLB has to fix that issue. The contract has to be changed. There are other bad umpires out there (IMO none as bad as Angel) so they need to have options to get rid of the piss-poor performers.
