There is a really nice PSA 9 ending in Goldin tomorrow, 14 hour left. I haven’t checked the pop report but SGC might have a couple.Surprised there are only 2 of those graded 10s. Those tall boys are obviously more prone to issues and centering - but keeping in mind they made a ton at a time when no one cared much about the NBA and the amount of sealed wax that surfaced in the late 80s/early 90s as people realized there might be some demand for those too.
Just now getting around to selling off seized assets ?
Meant to share earlier - but did anyone see the auction started this week by a local auction house of several 1930s cards - including 5 Babe Ruth’s ?
Canton find of several 1930s Baseball cards
Just found it very odd the auction house or owners didn’t send these out to be graded. Obviously it’s an expense - but trust me the auction house knows what they have here value wise - and from a marketing perspective just seems odd they would not seek grading before sale.
Either they aren’t as nice as the photos suggest or there is more to the find than being shared. Thought about driving out to just look at them for myself.
Those cards look pretty beat up but still will fetch some good $. Nothing rare about them. Not grading them is a huge turn off for many. There is too much fraud in the industry now. Lots of cards have been graded that were fake too. Buy the card not the slab as they say.Surprised there are only 2 of those graded 10s. A lot of the biggest names looked pretty beat - but certainly some decent looking cards of others.
You know a half of a number grade makes a big difference on stuff like that. One man’s 6 is another’s 7 and if there is a low pop - that 7 commands serious $$.
Thought of making a bid on DiMaggio and a few others - Babe Ruth’s and Gehrig pretty beat and nothing special.
Again - “rare” is a relative term. Made plenty but how few survived - and of those how many are still undiscovered. Not likely to be many left to find.
Yes - PSA and the grading companies are crooked - sad when the Beckett name is the most honest operator in an industry. I wouldn’t have trust in Dr Jim Beckett any more than I’d trust some fly by night PPH books.
