did 3 weekends in jail when I was 21 years old
petty larceny, judge wanted to make an example out of a college kid. I also had a useless free lawyer that was an idiot
each weekend was it's own experience
week 1...isolated in my own pod in section with "new inmates" for health reasons. There was 2 TVs b/t 5 of us and the dude next to me angled the TV towards his cell. I didn't wanna stir the pot, so I let it happen so didn't have any real entertainment.
week 2...same section of jail, except I was in main population. Still single cell so that was good. People realized I was a weekender and tried to take advantage by asking me to smuggle them in stuff. I clearly didn't do any of that. Made friends with a couple bigger guys and intentionally lost playing poker to earn their trust and give them some of my food. I had no commissary being a weekender and the times of the day they eat is INSANE!!! Luckily being a smaller guy I could go without eating to make sure I didn't have any issues or confrontations
week 3.....new section of the jail and complete general population. Bunks all in rows, no cells. I hated that. I was in Plattsburgh, so a lot of the inmates were illegals or DUI/DWI/breaking parole, drug chargers. I was never with murderers or rapist or domestic violence. I was with the lighter charge people, but general pop with no cell SUCKS!!!
I checked myself in on Friday morning and left Sunday morning. Week 3 they forgot about me and I was like hey, i'm supposed to leave today. Guard was like it's Sunday no one leaves on Sunday. I'm like I'm a weekeneder. He's like oh shit. Hour later I was released
3 weekends is NOTHING in the grand scheme of life. I cannot even imagine doing real time or years in prison. Everyone says lives moves fast, well really break down each day and that shit moves super slow
