Bublik has always had the talent, his desire seems to be at an all time high once his ranking dropped to 85 earlier this year. He was floating b/t 30-50 for a few years. Randomly win a title, randomly make a SF to maintain his ranking, but never thrived or went above his means to perform at a higher level
he finally dipped in the ranks and that was the motivation to fully put the game together. He has always had a monster serve, but he is focused on rally tolerance rather than a big serve plus 1.
He has always said CLAY is his least favorite surface and then look at this year, QF at Rolland Garros out of NOWHERE and then back to back 250 level clay court tournaments. And a 500 level grass level title
Bublik plays strictly for the money, but it seems like maintaining a higher ranking which guarantees more money is back to motivaing him
3 titles this season...most on tour only behind Alcaraz/Sinner
Do you know what's going to happen next 4 tournaments? He'll win 2-3 matches *total*.
Bublik is already planning his Pataya vacation and preparing a suitcase full of condoms. He's made a bag of cash, now it's time to live it up - you guys just know it, so take action with me and fade the f.... out of Mr. Bublik.
Let's look at what he did in Toronto, Cincinnati, Winston-Salem AND US Open exactly 1 year ago.
1 round loss - Toronto Open
withdrew - Cincinnati Open
DNP - Winston-Salem
1 round loss - U.S. Open
How many ranking points is he defending until September? Not a lot. Is he going to take it easy *at least* until the Asia tournaments in September, possibly until the end of the year?
Yes, I can see that happening. For sure.
