The result is the earliest loss by a No.1 seed at the Australian Open since 1979, when Virginia Ruzici lost to Mary Sawyer in the first round and the first time since the tournament became a 128-player draw in 1988 that the top seed has not made the fourth round

that is shocking. I wouldn't have expected that. Upsets happen all the time.

favorite to win her half for sure. Azarenka right behind her

bottom half likely Sabalenka/CoCo

Coco beat Svitolina in US Open semis last year
Coco is an All-Star player but she has a decade of majors ahead of her. I can't stress enough how much better Svitolina looks in 2024 than just after she started playing post-pregnancy. It's a huge, huge leap. She's a big girl now.

I like Svitolina and monfils relationship and both of them as players and as people
Still fukking livid over Jpeg with the way the draw opened up. Would be the prohibitive fav rn to come out of the top half with Iga/Ryba hitting the bricks. Still obv need 🥕 top to do his part but just imagine the position I'd be in with a Saba/Jpeg Final holding both parlay slips. Now watch Saba lose to Coco in the SFs

Still wouldn't switch my pick to Coco rn if I could but her next 2 matches are a joke while Saba won't have an ez QF (assuming she beats AA). I just feel these courts suit Saba better than Coco & she'll be out for revenge. She gets through Coco..the Finals should be much easier.
