Lack of depth wearing on Georgetown
The
Hoyas were once 3-0 SU in conference play, but they’ve since gone 1-5 SU over their last six games, moving them to 4-5 SU against the Big East. They were able to halt a four-game losing streak last week, but that success was short lived as they fell on Saturday. Georgetown was up by 12 at one point during that game but the offense shot 46.7% overall, hitting four threes and eight free throws in the loss. They were outrebounded, 37-32, turned the ball over 11 times and committed 15 fouls. Providence shot 45.2% overall and the Hoyas were only able to force eight turnovers out of them. Georgetown got zero points from their bench and only two players scored in double digits. Micah Peavy played all 40 minutes and led the team with 27 points on 12-19 shooting from the field. Thomas Sorber had a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds.
