Lodz are sitting last in the standings so the choice was made to make wholesale changes. Rakow are worth over 5x the value , play in European competition on the 6th , while Lodz play a day earlier in league play. Rakow seem to be the team with an actual interest in this Cup competition

I don't usually lay the heavy lumber on 3rd tier games , but this one deserves to be an exception. Nimes are a demoted side from League 2 while Epinal were promoted from National 2 ( one step up from " Pub League Football " ). Nimes sit in 6th place, in large part to the 7 draws in 11 games. Those draws come against much better sides , like Dijon whom Epinal lost 4 - 1 to recently. Epinal sit dead last in the league , and have yet to win a game in the 11 played to date ( 0 W - 4 D - 7 L ).

I've always wondered, do teams generally keep most of the group of players together after being promoted or is there quite a bit of turnover. I Epinal basically the same team as the one from National 2?

Using Leicester as a reference , they are still worth an estimated $250+ mill and kept the nucleus of the team that was demoted. Epinal, by contrast , are worth an estimated $650k . With a 26 man roster , it would represent approxiamtely $25,000 per player. Back in 1980 while playing for Edelweiss ( Toronto semi pro league ) i received $40 a game and a healthy supply of beer and wings after each game. lol
I would think that most of these players for Epinal would have other means of income.
