Yeah when you have a chance to go up 3 scores you have to take the points

He did it before the half

But needed to do it in second half to keep control of the game

You knew a 49ers run was coming
That'll be the first question in the post game press conference should they lose this game as it should be.
Sure, it'll be second guessed but everyone knew the lead wasn't safe and the Lions would need a lot of points. I don't blame him for not taking the (potential) points at the time.

Analytics gonna usually tell you to go for it

But in that case they would have said kick the FG for sure

If it was a 10 point game I would have gone for it, but at 14 you have to kick the FG there.

It shifted momentum though. I agree there are times to go for it on fourth and short but I would kick to go up 3 scores there every single time because it gave momentum to the Niners.

In hindsight it gave the 49ers the momentum but at the time the Lions were dictating everything on both sides of the ball.

I think Campbell is safe for a couple years now. It would take a complete disaster next year to get him fired before 2025 season.

Not really

The cost of losing momentum there is huge

His job is safe, but that doesn't mean he didn't make a bad decision

That would be a massive overreaction to a couple of bad decisions. Detroit loves this man and he has them in the conversation as contenders. If they let him go there will be some Lion fans who riot I think.
I agree 100% with you.
No way should he be fired. He won't be.
I just thought it was funny that people were calling for his head.
