Question: Would a 12-1 USC likely make the playoffs as the 4th team?

Reason I ask:
*If they felt the Utah loss killed them, could be flat here.
*I actually think the other way. Done w/ the Utah game, still have everything in front of them.

I also DON'T think the committee would make it 2+2 from Big10/SEC. IE, Mich/OhioSt and Alab/2ndSEC team do not make for logical coupled entries.

I think its a long shot.
Issues I see:
  • The Oregon/Utah winner will likley have a leg up on USC even if they run the table.
  • Excluding the Ore/Utah issue, how can you pick USC over Clemson or TCU assuming they win their conf championship.
  • Likely two of the 3 from Georgia/Tenn/Alabama will be in.
  • And depending upon the game performance both Mich/Ohio St could go even if one loses to the other.

USC making it would require a lot of help.

Thanks for the reply.

I have thought all along that TCU can't possibly go 13-0. It's too much to ask. So many of the Big12 teams are relatively even.

Trying to gauge USC mindset for game tonite. Riley is a great coach. Maybe it doesn't matter.
