Houston should move off of CJ Stroud now

They are wasting a great defense waiting on him to get better. Houston doesn’t need a savior, they need an average quarterback who won’t bake/make turnovers every big game. The time is now before the big extension. Give Malik Willis or Davis Mills a shot.

He was middle of the pack in QB ratings for the regular season. Obviously, he did not play well in the playoffs. After 3 years, I think everyone expected bigger things from him.

But, I'm not sure you can expect better from Willis or Mills.
I also don't see them making a trade for a better QB. Might be stuck with the him as the starter.

You don’t have to be stuck with Stroud. That’s why the time is now to do something. If you give him the big extension you are stuck with declining production and an increased allocation of the salary cap. That’s a recipe for going back to irrelevancy.

We saw same thing with Jayden Daniels (which some of us predicted would happen)

Very nice rookie year, then regression
Stroud is not in Jayden Daniels league. Stroud has a great rookie season and two more years of obvious regression. Signing Stroud to an extension is roster suicide. And a great WR1 won’t fix this problem. He gives the ball away unnecessarily.
