I am confused a little on Franklin's contract.
It says they "settled" for $9M??? What does that mean?

I thought Franklin's contract buyout with Penn St was for $49M and if he took another job, the buyout would just be reduced by the amount equivalent to his new salary and the balance would still be due.

I thought that as well. It seems like he is doing this to save Penn St money. I wonder if he is trying to save face since he got a new job and figures it is not worth the public perception of getting so much still.
