Exactly..... Dodgers will get him with DEFERRED PAYMENT bulls#it.

There is no salary cap. Its all just smoke and mirrors to make the owners of the Pittsburgh Pirates of the world happy.
Were they doing this before the Bobby Bonilla contract or was that when MLB teams 1st started this method of payment in the 1980's ?

Dodgers, Yankees, etc.... were always playing games and bypassing the salary cap.

Just lately, they've really abused the deferred compensation piece. Its "legal" per the MLB contract but it makes the salary cap a farce.

If I’m this guy - LA is probably not an option.

Already got a good 3B in Muncy - 1st and DH aren’t options. So you come in and need to replace someone who is well above average to start your career.

Seattle a good fit - but much like LA - do you want to play half your games in that stadium as a power hitter ?

Yankee stadium and power hitting lefty are a match made in heaven. And he’s being posted so not a complete free agent. He can wisely negotiate a lower club friendly deal to start for shorter term - reduces the risk for a team and gives him more opportunity to bet on himself while reducing the posting fee.

How about a complete outside the conventional thought team like someone in the AL Central not named the Royals. Guardians could use the power - but some guy named Ramirez on 3rd - but 1st base is open. Detroit has money especially if they wind up trading Skubal and would need to do something to prevent a full out fan revolt. Twins just got an infusion of private equity $$ didn’t they and could use some of that to sign him.
