Because they win. It's the same reason Kansas, UNC , Kentucky, UCLA and Duke have been your bluebloods since the beginning of college basketball. They simply win more than other programs and have placed more emphasis on their programs since the beginning. High school recruits want to go to a high profile program where they can win and play for national championships because it gives them more exposure for the next level than other programs. Now with NIL these schools are going to have even more advantages than the smaller programs because they'll just pick and choose the guys they want out of the portal and other programs won't be able to keep them.

They played extremely well the 1H but not so much 2H.

Also, UNC wasn't hitting dick for shots in the first 20 min. They were much more effective coming out the 2nd half.
