Not a stupid idea - the conference championships are clearly not succeeding at anything aside making money for host cities.

16 makes more sense to me - top 2 from big 4 automatic and then the highest ranked 4 from everyone else before extending out to the top 4 left regardless of conference. Highest ranked 8 of the big 4 and others host - the 4 remaining and last 4 in are road teams.

Of course that will never make anyone happy - so no chance of it happening. Sorry - if you’re not a top 12 program at the end of the year - you have no business arguing you should have a chance.

top 16 teams to 8 teams to 4 teams to 2 teams. would need 4 weeks. could be in january. i like that number. no byes. home field though. so if you are number 1 you could have 4 home games. big incentive.

Yep. It’s all about adding weekends and making more money.
Soon teams will be playing 17 game seasons to win the title.
