Giants trade for Red Sox Devers

Yeah I live in the Bay Area so Giants, Niners and Warriors are my favorite professional teams. I'm a Kentucky fan because my dad went to school there.

I kind of like Kyle Harrison but if that's all it took to get Devers then I'm glad Buster Posey pulled the trigger because the Giants have plenty of pitching but not enough hitting to win the World Series. Devers gives them lefty power which the Giants sorely lack so I'm excited for this move.

Regardless as we may think he's a big cry baby there is not much disputing that he is in the top 10 of hitters in the league. It's tough to give that kind of talent away if not getting much in return.

Devers will be a fine addition to the Giants if he goes along with being the DH. He will play some corner infield but honestly I like this move because the Giants offense is inconsistent and they needed some pop so Buster went out and got it.

So, insiders are now saying that the day Devers said he wouldn't play 1st base and would only bat DH, is the day the Red Sox started looking to trade him.

It took a while to make a deal and they felt the offer from the Giants to absorb his entire salary and get 2 pitchers, the 4th best Giant prospect, and a hitter was as good as it was going to get so they took the deal.

The message they wanted to send to the clubhouse was, "No one is above the team."
