One of my best friends in the LA area is from Laos. I hope to meet him in the capital city of Vientiane some day.View attachment 63189
Laos recorded over 1.2 million tourist arrivals in Q1 2025, a 28 percent rise from last year, led by visitors from Thailand, China, Vietnam, and growing domestic travel.
When you say "naturists", do you mean people who like to be out in the nude or do you mean people who like nature?Ahhh so it’s one of those places I asked about earlier in your thread that’s popular with naturists
I wonder if it's that the women put up with it and don't divorce because of it.But how can you explain the rankings above?
I hear it's getting to be the rainy season there. Is that correct?Had an amazing day climbing a mountain and went into a cave. Got caught dumping rain on the way down. It sucked, slippery as hell coming down. But hell of a time. I was at

Thanks Q great vid and infoFor those of you who may think about moving to Southeast Asia, if not permanently but just to visit for a few weeks or a few months, here is an area near Cebu City in the Philippines. It's an enclave where a lot of expats live. Even if you aren't planning to live in the Philippines, other Southeast Asian countries have areas like this so this area represents the expat areas in those countries too.
It's a rather safe place to be and it has all the amenities you want nearby like restaurants. I've checked the hotels nearby and they go for $40 - $50 per night. I'm sure you can get it for much cheaper if you are staying for a week or month through an airbnb. I would highly recommend living in an area for a couple months before planning to move there permanently just to see if it's something you would like.
I'm not asking for you to watch the whole video but click your way through it just to see the convenience available here. If you are looking to stay long term there are plenty of Westerners here you can hang out with at the bars.
This is on Mactan Island which is where Magellan was killed during a fight with the natives. This area is just a couple hundred meters from the beach.
You will not find a safer country than Vietnam or China, It is so safe here. You see nothing but young girls ( foreigners) touring the country by themselves or with a friend. There is not even a security guard at banks here. I tell my friends here that banks in America get robbed, they can't comprehend that. You have to be on your toes in the Philippnes. there are 11 countries in SEA ( China is not SEA ) and it is by far the most dangerous of all of them. You can't really count Myanmar as dangerous because they say it is dangerous because of the words longest lasting civil war, but I assure you Myanmar is peaceful and safe but the civil unrest gives it a ranking as dangerous. Cambodia is dangerous if you are involved in the mafia stuff going on there. But to live a normal life and be happy, great food, friendly people, no crime, hottest girls in the world, best entertainment, a rich history and prideful people, you won't find a better place than Vietnam out of the 11 SEA countries. Hell , there are even places in the Phillipines that the Taliband hid out and there are still places in Mindano that are very dangerous. .... But if you stay in the tourist areas that Quantam is talking about , you are ok , but have to be very aware in that country. Thanks Q great vid and info
The question i have is this....
When the words "very safe" gets thrown around for these places you and illini frequent, what kind of safe are we talking about?
"Very safe" as in U.S. Safe....Or "very safe" considering where they are at in the world?
The guys in the video say this particular expat area is safer than most cities in the US. In the video you can see Filipinas walking in groups without having to care about their safety. Thanks Q great vid and info
