Williams suffered a stroke in February 2020 and later moved to an assisted care facility in the Baltimore area. He died on January 15, 2025

"The Wizard,” has died at 71. Williams passed away Wednesday, nearly five years after suffering a stroke. He spent his final days in a care facility near Baltimore. The former player was surrounded by family, including his daughter, who flew in to be with him. His brother, David Williams, shared that Gus’s health had declined significantly in recent days, but he was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments
