People love the idea of taking a week off - kicking back and risking the kids college funds in the name of “fun”.

Gambling is about making money to me - I refuse to gamble on vacation - which is about relaxing and getting away. Might go sit with wife while she waste $20 on a slot machine trying to play a bonus game or $35 to play a game of bingo on a cruise - but never gamble when your captive to the casinos sea for sure. Amazes me I still get casinos at seas offers from Carnival brands for free rooms despite never spending more than $50 on any cruise I’ve taken for free with them. (Their casino team tries to match you up based on your loyalty status elsewhere - had to send in pics of my casino loyalty cards years ago and they matched me level to level).

My last Alaskan Cruise was basically free with them. I did pay to upgrade to a balcony but hopefully this will help you with future cruises.

I usually do pretty good in the ship casino on Advantage slot machines. It's a captive audience who doesn't really know anything about those type of machines so I'm able to capitalize on opportunities

Has worked both ways for me. I do feel pretty charged up when gambling on vacation. Like it’s a bigger stage to be on than usual with it. But you also feel like you’d rather be enjoying other things than gambling.
