Interesting - certainly deserved (even though they likely cheated a time or 2).

Guessing the logic being in general HC who deserve to be in don’t retire young - and waiting 5 years generally means a few may not make it until induction day.

I wonder if they will also extend it to players.

I can’t see it - but who knows.

Players generally are “young” when they retire (expect for Brady and some kickers).

At the same time - plenty of examples of guys dying very young - both from “natural” causes and other causes.

It’s kind of an insult to guys who had to wait and the way the NFL HOF works not sure it would be advisable with the multiple rounds of candidacy. Should just keep it as is and when that rare exception like Sean Taylor happens - move to suspend the nomination process and induct immediately.

I see no problem about it.. no sense in waiting when we all know which ones are getting in. But I also like the 5yrs since it's been a trend for players/coaches to unretire after a few yrs.

So we could actually see a HOF coach on the sidelines with this new rule.
Coach retires. Coach gets into HOF 1 year later. Coach is hired by NFL team the next year.
