Wet grass will make the ball move more quickly and make for a more exciting game. It also helps protect the player from grass burn when they slide across it.

Ball glides, it's safer for the player, as he glides too, so there will be less injuries. It stabilizes and cools the surface as well, helps prevent burns, like rug burn syle.
