Exactly and law enforcement does not distinguish the reported crimes between a taxi or say Uber, it's all one. They do not have the data segregated.

Also, a lot problems with Ubers and Lyfts won't get reported to law enforcement but will be reported on the app with a bad review or complaint. That's an issue too.

So both can be risky, but cabs are definitley more formal and thorough in background checks (good ones take longer to complete, more suitable for a full cab employee instead of the shortened version from the ride app companies).

It's not just the drivers that assault passengers, it happens the other way around too.
