I've seen this story a few times and nowhere does it state why the mansion is being torn down

I assume somebody with a lot of money wants to rebuild there but my goodness that place can't be in bad shape

Yeah. I've heard the neighborhood has gone to crap. A lower class of people moving in.... people with only tens of millions of dollars instead of hundreds of millions of dollars are moving in to the area so quite a few are leaving.
