Texas Tech is the first (but won't be the last) to give every football player a minimum of NIL money. All 100 players will get at least $25k/yr.

Source of the money: Matador Booster Club. Many schools will follow. Of course big names will get millions in NIL.

Maybe a few years down the road, there will be a system establishing a minimum pay requirement for each team to be Div 1 (kind of like MLB min salary limits).

I don't disagree. Even the 15 walk-ons are getting paid at Tech.

This is one of the many dominos that will fall and is the start of the NIL money-race to fielding a championship team. I don't think Texas Tech can compete though with other schools that have way more money coming in from boosters.

I see paying CFB players NIL 6 figures or even 7 in some cases, a huge risk for schools. I mean how many times have players ended up being a bust.

So many questions:
Will teams cut players who are a bust to preserve their NIL money from boosters for other players like they do for scholarships?
Does the player still get to keep the NIL money if they are cut from the team?
Should a player who recives NIL money STILL get a scholarship from the schools budget?

I was talking about the “Professors”

Not the athletes generating $$$ there…

Professors making $100K+. That's pretty freaking high. I guess if they've come up with patents that the school makes money on or are some kind of world expert in their specific field, it would be justified.

I had grad students teaching almost all of my courses in Fresh/Soph years. Didn't see a real professor until year 3.
