What Do You Think a Good ROI is on Sports Betting?

I'm looking for people's opinion on what they feel is a good ROI for long-term sports betting. I've read some articles and quite a few refer to an ROI of ~3% over 1000 bets would make you an average winning sports bettor. If you hit ~5% ROI they say you're one of the best.

Does that seem reasonable?

Now, just because you've had a recent run of 21-5 on your plays, doesn't mean you're a savant nor does it mean you will continue at that pace. I'm talking aboue long-term ROI on sports betting.

What's your opinion on a good ROI?

I realize I'll get a lot of responses that "No one wins so ROI is 0%". But, I'd like to know what you think is a good ROI for a professional sports gambler. Please don't just give a number, explain why you think that is a good number.

I don’t have anything to add except l just went to betstamp to check it out. It’s an app so no link going to take screen shot will look funky.

Sports betting or any gambling for that matter should be comparable to any other form of investing or business like stocks/real estate/commodities/bonds/etc - if your monthly/yearly rate of return is comparable or higher than what you would get doing any of those things, then you are successful enough.

Exactly. This is the point I was going to get to after a few replies.
So the return on investment should be measured vs alternative options for the money. If you are satisfied with the return then OK. If not, don't gamble and put it elsewhere.

The issue becomes measuring the risk for the investment. I could get 15-20% return on some high risk junk bonds today but I may never see my money if the company goes bankrupt. How do you measure the risk associated with gambling and account for that in your gambling investment portfolio? The higher the risk you are taking the higher the ROI you should expect.

Is 5% return good for the risk you take?

Biggins, Are the ROIs shown at betstamp verified and over a long period of plays (1000+)?
I'm curious if it just touts generating nubmers or is it real? I ask because someone making almost 10% ROI 1) wouldn't need to sell their plays on internet. 2) If they are giving them away, they can't have a long record with that rate of return.

betstamp is for transparency not all are touts just like here you can log your plays and BMR will track. Some you see with a high ROI you click and it’s a small sample size. I know it sounds like I’m touting RAS a lot but not really just known the guy(not personally)for 22 years but his ROI is legitimate. He sells his plays because he gets limited or so he says. Lol

Agree...higher the risk should equal greater rewards...same decision making logic as most learn in junior high when deciding whether to sell things or not...basically same with sports as any others business venture or investment - is the risk with the rewards...and in sports try to focus on getting an edge which should lower your risk and increase your rewards.
