Personally have ZERO use for Yelp
Majority of reviews follow the same trend - race about how amazing something taste - despite having little to no knowledge of the dish. Or bitch and complain about things completely unrelated to the establishment or food (complain about other diners, the weather being too hot/cold so not able to eat outdoors) or other stupidity.
I only care about reviewers who have MY taste and similar opinions. I don’t care what some moron with their 3 kids thinks about the place or why they hate it because they don’t have a child’s menu and pricing - I’m not a child and I don’t eat off the children’s menu. If you wanted chicken strips - go to Raising Canes. Likewise - I am not a professional chef - my taste pallet is not as refined as theirs. Just like people with bourbon and wine - you might detect “hints” of oak, licorice or whatever buzzword is in this week - I still think I can put a $40 liquor in a $1000 bottle and vice versa and the majority of these “experts” would say the pricier and not know they had been switched.
This is why I come to BMR and not Yelp for dining reviews - seeking out an equal level of sophistication in my dining experience. Realistically - most here would be at an Applebees level of dining and I’m fine with that. Steakhouses in general for example don’t overly impress me - I’ve eaten fresh grass fed beef for years - atmosphere is over rated in these places and what they command.
