Still have this near the top of my list to watch as many say it is the best all time series but each time I put it on it just seems so outdated even though it is 20 years old.

I watched it 2 years ago and I really liked it (but wouldn't say it's the best of all time). It's a series where you really have to sit down and watch it with concentration and not just on the side while doing other stuff, because there are so many sub-stories, so many names and characters, so many different angles and aspects. It is certainly a very unique show.
