This is crazy that they can fine them for just using a social media platform! How can they even regulate who's using it? Why?

Brazil has just banned X formerly known as Twitter

Brazil will FINE people $8900 if they use a VPN to access X after they banned & possible jail time

I think the gov't is trying to keep misinformation from spreading. Child porn and terroristic posts are free flowing. The gov't asked for it to stop.

X has refused to implement any moderation controls on their platform. They had closed their Brazil offices to keep the govt from serving any legal notices. The Brazil Supreme Court said X must have an location/representative in the country to act as the company rep. If not, they will be restricted.

The court also seized Musk's Starlink assets in Brazil as collateral for fines.

I don't think the Brazil Supreme Court is going to play by the rules and will do whatever the hell they want to Musk since they feel X is not regulating themselves.

Apparently the U.S. government is backing & assisting Brazil in this

Basically using Brazil to initiate their dirty work

Those who do not follow this stuff really need to catch up & understand that we are headed towards worldwide totalitarianism from one behind the scenes group

After a months-long standoff over disinformation, a Brazilian Supreme Court judge banned billionaire Elon Musk's social media network X in the country on Friday. The judge, Alexandre de Moraes, ordered the "immediate, complete and comprehensive suspension of the operation of" X in the country. He told the national communications agency to take "all necessary measures" to implement the order within 24 hours.
Alexandre de Moraes also threatened a fine of 50,000 reais ($8,900) to anyone who used "technological subterfuges" to get around the block, such as a VPN or the virtual private network.

The Elon Musk-Brazil Judge Controversy
The Elon Musk-Alexandre de Moraes controversy began when the Supreme Court judge ordered the suspension of several accounts on X, formerly known as Twitter, belonging to supporters of Brazil's former president Jair Bolsonaro, who tried to discredit the voting system in the 2022 election, which he lost.
Brazilian authorities are investigating whether Bolsonaro plotted a coup attempt to prevent current President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from assuming office in January 2023.
In April, Moraes ordered an investigation of Musk, accusing him of reactivating some of the banned accounts."

Banning X - Isn't this a violation of freedom of speech?
Liberal hypocrisy is so blatant it'd be funny if it weren't so sad, it's almost a disease of the mind.

Consider this example. Musk did an AI image of Kamala dressed in red communist gear after she announced her economic platform was to seize the free market & issue price & wage control. That's a satirical expression.

The loons went nuts and posted an AI I age of Musk in Naxxi gear. To what end is that expression of any thought, idea or anything other than hate? But you call them out on it, and they cannot explain themselves.

Brazil is still 3rd world, remember Petrograd or whatever that oil scam was 10 years ago. No difference in Venezuela. Maduro moans about USA seizing his plane yesterday, how about the assets of Chevron, ExxonMobil & Occidental he seized 10 years ago 😆 🤣

The reality is that Brazil is no longer a democracy, if it ever was one. Brazil at the moment is a kind of proto-Venezuela, but this process is just beginning. The left has infiltrated the state, judges, police, and mainstream media work for the government and are silencing dissenting voices.

This judge, who was appointed after the suspicious death of a judge in a plane crash (he was responsible for Operation Car Wash), was appointed by a former president of the MDB and had connections with the PSDB government, which theoretically represented right-wing politicians in the past, but was nothing more than the 'Theater of Scissors' (a pseudo-alternation of power between the parties while sharing slices of corruption and distributing positions).

Then Bolsonaro and other politicians emerged, creating a new right, many people lost power and feared this rise, but the left remained strong. Those who lost power were the center-left and center-right. It’s not much different from what happens in the US, France, and other countries.

The judge said he does this for democracy, another judge said at a leftist student event that they defeated Bolsonarism. In other words, they are not remotely impartial.

Maduro, Putin, China, and every other totalitarian country claimed to fight fascism, Nazism, and defend democracy... lol...

Now the worst part: Musk’s decision to leave Brazil was made when the CEO had her accounts blocked and was threatened with prison because she allegedly didn’t respond to the minister.

Then it was discovered that his idiot lackeys wrote the email wrong—'busines' instead of 'business.' Imagine someone being imprisoned for this, without the right to a defense? This is the current Brazil.

Musk pulled the employee out of there and suspended operations in the country. It has nothing to do with pornography, pedophilia, or anything like that.

The minister wants to persecute opponents of the current regime. What led to this order is that X refused to suspend the account of a senator who allegedly published the names of police officers who conducted searches at the homes of exiles and regime opponents. One of them lives in the USA, and another in Spain.

The guy living in Spain had his house in Brazil raided for several hours, his wife and 16-year-old daughter searched. The 16-year-old girl claims abuse. The judge wanted to prohibit this girl and the senator from posting on Twitter. A 16-year-old girl, 😆 and X refused to comply with these orders, considering them illegal under Brazilian law. No legal process was initiated; it's all the unilateral decision of a judge.

If you want to know more, check out the Global Affairs profile on Twitter, Glenn Greenwald, or Renata Barreto on X or Instagram.

Obviously, the narrative in the USA's mainstream media is quite different.

Ah, I forgot a detail: the Twitter CEO, the 16-year-old girl, and the senator had their accounts blocked with no chance of defense. Today, the judge decided that the senator can regain 30%.

And Musk accepts the laws of dictatorial countries like Turkey as long as they are within the law. The problem here is that such actions violate Brazilian law, and he didn’t want to do that.

Brazil has laws (like em or not) they gave X the chance to adhere to them they refused so that comes with consequences. For the record I think blocking any platform in general is wrong that's the kind of shit the Putin's of the world do etc but it is what it is.

People like Musk love freedom of speech as long as they can take advantage of it spreading lies and propaganda. He is and has always been a fraud that way.

He said don't advertise with X - f*** them. Then once he and his investors start losing their asses he wants to file a lawsuit. Part of being for freedom and free speech is that companies have the freedom to advertise when and where they choose.

The hypocrisy is real.
