I would rather try my best to love that child and give he/she all the support and guidance that I possibly could.
Sometimes it's not about you but about your child. And sometimes after you have tried to teach them as much as you can, they teach you things as well.
Just try and be the best you can at whatever you do and you won't have any regrets.
Share your love to your kids and chances are they will share it back to you when you need it the most.
That's my take on this stuff.
