Would the Bears be crazy not to take something like this for the #1 overall?

If Washington or Pats are enamored with Caleb Williams maybe swapping number ones with them this year, and then getting their number two this year and two future number ones?? Seems about par for the course for trading up to the top spot.

I think they’d be crazy not to do something like this, especially with questionable character traits emerging about Williams.

They could draft Maye if they did the trade with Washington (I’m thinking this would be the most likely to want to trade with new OC Kliff). Or Harrison Jr.

I think rolling with Fields, grabbing a ton of top draft picks for one of these teams salivating for Williams, and grabbing Harrison Jr., sounds pretty damn good as far as setting them up for the future.

I think something like this ends up being a whole lot more successful than drafting Williams would be

Ever hear a NFL team come out and say “we are ready to deal the #1 - we are t asking much - just be fair with us and it’s yours” ?

No - they will posture and demand “historic compensation” - privately I’m sure it’s different.

Top 3 this year - a number one next and a second now or a 2nd later and something in 3-4th would probably get close to getting this done.

I don’t see them wanting less than #4 overall - they could still get a QB of they wanted or potentially Harrison - assuming Williams is first.

Harrison could be a game breaker - but again need a better team around him. A solid draft here and Bears contend - quickly.

If you ask me the Bears should select Marvin Harrison Jr. If that means trading down with the intention to take him then they should do it. Fields imo is fine he just needs playmakers and there is no better playmaker in the draft than Marvin Harrison Jr.

I think this is exactly what Chicago does

Washington at #2 or New England at #3 will make an offer to move up to #1

Bears can swap and get compensation from either one and still get get Harrison jr right before Arizona at #4 who wants him

Can you imagine if the Bears had Harrison Jr and DJ Moore as their WRs?

And multiple 1s and 2s draft picks the next 2-3 years?

Exactly. Bears will demand the world for this pick hoping to get a decent set of players/picks.
They weren't going to give it away cheap.

Yes - they will wind up looking like the Browns with “stars in the making” Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow Jr with Pro Bowler Derek Anderson if not careful.

Talent and picks are w - but until you get coaching and an O line that can keep the QB for fearing for his life and a D that can give give the offense a chance to rest a few minutes - it’s meaningless.

They have a good foundation- they just need to not blow it. Fields is better than Anderson and neither Harrison nor Moore are as big of off field liabilities as Winslow - Edwards. But still need to improve the running game (somewhat easy in today’s FA market) and O line (loaded draft for that this year).
