Wonder if OSU’s Gundy will get shit-canned after the season?

Guy’s one of the biggest red-asses in the game. Will go winless in Big 12 and finish 3-9 overall

I would lean no because he has a pretty solid 19-year foundation he built but he has to be on a pretty short leash.

169-88 overall record at OSU

He’s had that team very competitive for a long time probably just needs a new environment
When you see teams fall off a cliff in this new era I always wonder if their old-school coach just hasn’t adjusted to NIL

I remember at the beginning of the season he told everyone on his team “this NIL stuff is over now, it’s time to play ball.”

Unfortunately that kind of coaching attitude is naive these days. Just look at all the ads, commercials, etc. with players running all season long. You know the players are making decent cash for that stuff in-season.

Here’s the article I was referring to 👆

In late August Gundy said he told the players their agents need to stop calling and asking for more money.

I wonder if some of them didn’t take to that too well.

I feel for Ollie Gordon.

If he could have come out after last season likely a low first or second round pick.

Now everyone has keyed on him because they have no other threats. And he’s been dinged up but has limped back on the field time and time again.

Definitely hurt his draft stock this season.

He wasn’t prepared for NIL and got run over this year.

Boone Pickens (RIP) was OSU benefactor. Not sure is his estate still pays for everything at OSU but I’m thinking they will find some alumni $$$ and pick up the NIL players and get better soon.

Gundy is a god there and will be around next year (if he wants to) but another 0-Fer year in the B12 and he’s gone.

Ollie Gordon was rated a top-5 back last season. Top 3 in some rankings.

Has slipped to #17 RB in this NFL 2025 draft ranking.

So the main reason why his stats are down is because he’s been injured. I haven’t been following, but it’s been a real disappointing year as you mentioned. I watched him against BYU and he looked like the Ollie Gordon of old that one game lol.

Several games he hobbled off barely under his own power. Only to come back next drive for a couple of carries or to be used as a decoy. Then he hobbled off again.

Came back out next drive to get a couple of carries or to be a decoy. Then hobbled off again.

Well, OSU is going after Gundy to reduce his contract.

They want him to take a pay cut to his existing contract. Its not a new contract. They want to cut his current contract and take the money and invest in NIL. Gundy is saying "Hell no."

School may fire him "for cause" for not changing his contract.

Crazy stuff. He has a rolling 5 year contract worth $25M. if they fire him he gets the money.

He doesn't warrant a pay cut. Guy has consistently put up one of the most explosive teams annually. Fun football to watch.
I think the school is going cheap. Their benefactor Boone Pickens died 5 years ago so they need to raise money for NIL. I guess they thought it should come from the coach.
