Why ?

A lot of soon to be free agent QBs - why pay this guy big money for a year - only to have him return to prior form next and be a year behind drafting his replacement?

Extend him if you can reach a deal - if not move on and grab a QB on the market with a 2 year deal and then draft someone in 2nd/3rd round.

Plenty of guys looking for a chance to start again and will sign a reasonable contract that won’t kill you cap wise.
