Maybe they want the bye

But could get a lot of additional rest and get healthier going into the playoffs

Ohio State/Michigan is the biggest rivalry in the sport

Texas/A&M doesn’t come close to comparing

And Michigan pretty much is a bye week when they aren’t cheating

It might take more effort to try and lose to then

Better question might be why they don’t lose to Oregon in Big Ten title

Could argue 5 seed is better path, and they’ll have to play Oregon again anyway

But frankly the SEC is so down that Ohio State or Oregon should welcome a Georgia/Tennessee game in the quarters

A lot of lists have Bama-Auburn top Rivalry.

Texas and A&M is a monster rivalry.

Think about how bad it would suck if you had no Ohio State-Michigan for 13 years because of one bailing to go play in another conference.

I’ve been around this rivalry for years and the disdain these two have for each other is at an insane level.

I’ve been lucky enough to attend several of these games at Texas and two key ones at A&M. (Vince natty year, Colt’s last year)

Texas also has another monster rivalry in Oklahoma.

All of the above I mentioned are top-5 rivalries in college football. Where you rank them depends on your bias.

In other words, Texas isn’t losing to Texas A&M just because it might benefit them to have an extra week off.

Just like Ohio State isn’t losing to Michigan just to have an extra week off.

It’s not a serious question or argument.

It was a poorly phrased argument but the idea was that a banged up team would benefit from not going all out

Circumstances are different. If Texas isn’t banged up though then yes they shouldn’t just play it normally

Saying the game just doesn’t matter much

Auburn/Alabama is considered a bigger rivalry to SEC homers

Nationally Ohio State/Michigan is far above it. It’s the biggest rivalry in college sports. Way more history and higher stakes

A&M isn’t even Texas’ biggest rival lol and they’ve played so many meaningless games recently since both teams have frankly sucked

Past 2000, football in entire the state of Texas (college and pro) has been a joke outside of the Vince Young year

If they stop playing it then it’s not that big of a rivalry

If Ohio State played in the SEC and Michigan in the Big 12, they’d still play in the last game every year

SEC only has an 8 game conference schedule — should have easily kept it going if it mattered that much

Schools can figure out how to make that work

Any comparison between Ohio State/Michigan and Texas/A&M is just comical

No one argued to intentionally lose. More that resting starters could help a banged up team. It was poorly phrased I’ll admit

And again shows the flaws in the format , which was my point

are you insane? LOL this game means more to Ohio St/Michigan individually than ANY other game on the schedule
I was just messing with Storm in reference to a post he made about why Texas wouldn’t just lose to A&M

And yes, I’m a little bit insane

Neither game means anything nationally, only to the people that live in those areas and have nothing else to cheer for but their college sports. Pretty much the entire story of college football. The "pride" people have in the places they went to school is the true comedy.
